Lake Hartwell
Lake Hartwell covers an area of
56,000 acres with 962 miles of shoreline. The lake is created by
the Tugaloo River stretching 49 miles from the Northeast Georgia
Mountains to its sister river the Seneca River, which flows 45 miles
from the north bordering Lake Keowee, to the Savannah River Basin to the
south. The Lake is abundant with state parks, recreation
areas and protected wildlife preserves.
The lake has a wide array of waterfront communities from weekend cabins
to permanent homes affording both growing families and retirees.
Its quiet, serene atmosphere is neither crowded nor contaminated.
Crystal clear waters are bounded by natural sandy beaches, sailboat
waters, and deep water coves. Its numerous state parks and
recreation areas, as well as lakefront restaurants, make it a perfect
environment for all to enjoy. Located just minutes from
Greenville, SC, and convenient to Atlanta, GA, Lake Hartwell is without
a doubt, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Southeast.
